The 5" P180 STIKIT GOLD FILM DISC (8-82467) provides discs with aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a quick cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. Our flexible support has a uniform finish and is more tear-resistant than comparable paper products, making it ideal for a high-volume workplace.

Aluminum oxide is used as the abrasive material in the 5" P180 STIKIT GOLD FILM DISC (8-82467), which has a diameter of 5 inches. This aluminum oxide substance is included in 3M's PSA disc roll, resulting in a P180 grit. This item is mounted on a 2 mm film backing.

Key Features:

  • The convenient roll form avoids the need to remove individual disc liners.
  • The 3MTM StikitTM adhesive backing enables rapid application and removal.
  • On various surfaces, aluminum oxide abrasive provides a rapid cut, extended life, and professional performance.
  • Dust and debris are prevented from clogging the disc by the open coat structure and load-resistant coating, which provides a more aggressive performance.
  • Easy-to-use disc roll form

3M™ Stikit™ pressure sensitive adhesive backing provides ease of attachment to a random orbital sander and a clean, residue-free removal, while the roll form offers quick access to a disc and eliminates disc liners. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure. The 255L features an aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption. The 3M™ Stikit™ system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to the disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for the next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
