The second scenario is when you need to attach something to the bolt while allowing it to move around. Installing jam nuts is a straightforward procedure. For this example, we'll utilize our trusty vice to hold our bolt in place. Simply tighten the first nut onto the bolt once it is in place. Make sure the first bolt is far enough down to accommodate the second. You can start spinning the second nut after you've gotten the first one far enough. Both of these nuts should easily slide onto the bolt.
