The stator is the coil of wire located inside the engine case. A magnet on a shaft spins within the stator, producing alternating current (AC). That current flows along fairly thick gauge wire. And travel the case and into the rectifier/regulator, then transforms it to DC power at a steady output. The primary root cause of electrical tracking failures is the presence of any impurity build-up on the stator winding insulation motor operation. Mercury Stator - CDI Electronics (174-9710K 1)allows heat to dissipate more efficiently from the windings during operation.Applicable to 1989-1997 (30 JET,40,80 JET,100,115,120 JET & 125HP - 4 Cylinder). 1987-1997 (45 JET,50,55,60,65 JET,70,75,80,90 & 95HP 3 cylinders
