The device transmits a single, small pulse to the CDI box when the poles shift, causing it to dump the energy from the charging capacitor into the high voltage transformer. The engine case and stator plate share an arbitrary alignment point called the timing mark. Connect the kill wires to the engine ground with a DC voltmeter. There is a problem with the harness or ignition switch if you notice DC voltage on the kill wires at any time. WARNING!!! When connecting the switch box to the stator on some engines, use extreme caution due to the position of the rectifier/regulators. The RED switch box wire can easily be linked to the RED 12V wire intended for the rectifier/regulator, resulting in a burned-out switch box.
