The Condenser fits Mercury Mariner Outboards. It works as a part of the ignition system used on most small engines. It is the same as a high voltage capacitor used in other types of electrical circuits. A high voltage charge is stored in a small engine condenser. The condenser stores electricity when open, and the electricity surges into the condenser. It surges back out through the coil then the spark is created. The small engine will not run when the condenser malfunctions.
