The power pack provides voltage to the power coils of the ignition system. A faulty or dead power pack can create trouble starting your Johnson outboard. But how to check the power pack? Connect a multimeter to a peak voltage adapter. Connect the adapter's black and red connectors to the multimeter's black and red lead terminals. Ensure that the black wire gets connected to the black port, and the red wire gets a connection to the red port. Turn on your multimeter and set it to "DC Volts" or "DCV." Connect the orange wires to the positive lead and the negative lead to the ignition coil's negative terminal (-). A reading of at least 150V is required. Power Pack from EMP contains durability and longevity to help the power system for many years.
