A pulser coil generates a pulse (spark) to start a vehicle's ignition. The Pulser Coil is a component of an engine's timing and ignition system. On modern motorcycles with solid-state ignition systems, the Pulser Coil (also known as the Pickup Coil or Timing Coil) provides the timing signal to the ignition control box. Since the late 1970s, this technology has most motorcycles for reliable, accurate, and low-maintenance ignition control. A Hall effect sensor within a metal rotor is mounted on the distributor shaft to build up the pickup coil. This shaft is spun by gear by the camshaft. The rotor includes windows that open into a small gap between a stationary permanent magnet.
