Operating fluids like fuels, transmission oils, or lubricating oils cannot leak and release into the environment if the sealing system is in excellent function. Before installation, you should apply oil to the seals. The oil filter has a gasket at the visible end that, once fitted, serves as a lock-washer and seal. The seal will either be flat (typically on smaller filters) or bevel-cut depending on the size of the filter (on some larger filters)
